Outside/ Power Hitter Position Camp

This camp is specifically designed and predominantly for left-side hitters with some specifics to attacking on the right side of the court. Coaches will focus on approach, timing, arm swing and shot selection. There will be further emphasis on defensive transitions, passing of serve receive as well as downball passing. Coaches will cover the following skills:

• Proper approaches
• Effective and correct arm action
• Cross court and line hitting
• Hit the overpass - stationary and moving
• Hit variety of sets - high ball, rainbow, shoot set, 33, 31, left side X
• Proper passing form - repetitions 
• Proper defensive positioning - reading the opposition
• Blocking - hand position, penetration, positioning and timing
• Blocking - reading opposing attacker, set block vs. play downball
• Commit block with middle hitter on quick's, set block for slide/step around 
• Hit against blockers - tipping, half-speed and wipe-off shots
• Back row hitting from position 5 and 6
• Hit bad sets - learn new shots from difficult positions
• Swing hitting of serve receive
• Transition situations: dig tip - attack, dig front row - attack, block - attack, dig back row - attack
• Play defense in position 4, 5 and 6
• Video analysis of arm swing and proper approach with classroom feedback session
