Welcome to Volleyball Position Camps!A hot, exciting summer volleyball camp located near Calgary, Alberta, Canada, that is based on
camps for each position (setter, outside/ power hitter, middle hitter, coaching), it will revolutionize what you think of volleyball camps.
Welcome to another summer with Volleyball Position Camp. After last years overwhelming success with sold out camps and long waiting lists, this year’s camps are promising to take the volleyball camp experience once again to a new level.
The general concept of Volleyball Position Camp is to train in your chosen position (middle hitter/blocker, outside/power hitter and setter) with athletes of similar age and ability. The camp combines all three major positions and provides position specific training. It will provide the athlete with learning opportunities way beyond what any other regular skills camp can offer.
For players we have added specialty sessions on one of the camp days for those who wish to gain new or additional experiences in jump serving, standing float serving, individual defense, advanced defensive techniques, individual serve receive, advanced serve receive techniques, arm action correction, wipe-off techniques, ball recovery skills and others. Players will be able to choose the coach and the activities they wish to take part in via a sign up for that particular day. We will also be adding a position specific video session and camp video session with current and high-level volleyball footage.
Volleyball Position Camp will also be offering
for the first time the “VPC Coaches Camp”! This promises to be an outstanding
learning opportunity for coaches at the high school and club level. For more
information please click on the coaches camp
button on the left hand side.
This
camp is designed for female athletes age 14 to 19 only. It is for
players who have chosen a position or want to increase their level of experience
and expertise. Participating in Volleyball Position Camp is for athletes who
want to take their ability of play to the next level. The camp will provide
coaching from some of Canada’s top female athletes/coaches, who will provide
the participants with tricks of the trade from the National Team level as well
as the international playing circuit.
This is not a general skills camp and athletes
attending are expected to have a solid background in the sport of volleyball.
The athletes should have experience through club volleyball at the midget or
juvenile level or at least have high school playing experience.
The
camp will run Monday through Friday at
Strathcona-Tweedsmuir School just outside of
Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The typical daily
schedule will be from approximately 8:30 am until 4:30 pm and includes
four separate training sessions (two in the am and two in the pm). The two
am sessions will focus specifically on improving techniques and introducing
new concepts to the player’s chosen position.
The
first pm session will be combination training. For example middle hitters and
setters will combine for attack options such as 51’s, 31’s or step
around/slide and working on setter/hitter relationships. The outside/power
hitters and setters will combine to work on attack of serve receive. The outside/power hitter will pass in serve receive then swing to attack from the left or
the right side of the court.
The
last session of the day will focus on game and tactical skills whereby all three
positions are combined in competitive 6 vs. 6 situations. These game situations
will be very intense and either coach controlled or open competitions.
The
camp will offer an extremely low coach to player ratio of approximately 1 – 8. Enrollment
will be limited to approximately 16 athletes in each position per week. The positions offered
at this point are outside/power hitter, middle hitter/blocker and setter. It
will be difficult to find a camp of similar quality, intensity and learning
opportunity anywhere in the country. All the coaches are educators/teachers and
have the innate ability to connect with teenagers, who are self-motivated,
driven, love volleyball and are looking to reach for their potential in the
sport of volleyball.
Please continue to check out the individual position
descriptions as well as the coach’s biographies. Register
early to avoid disappointment later.
