Coaches Camp

As apprentice we are expecting you to be part of all the camp events during the week. You are here to learn and gain knowledge for your own personal growth, while working with our staff. Therefore consistency is very important. The VPC coaching staff has the sole responsible in delivering all feedback to the athletes.

In addition to the daily schedule we will offer session specific to coaches only, which will cover topics such as:

• Physical coaching skills such as tossing, top spin hitting and serving
• Positioning in drills and game situations
• Scouting the other team
• Exploiting the other teams defense
• Exploiting the other teams serve receive
• Limiting and channeling the other teams offence
• Serving strategies
• Creating a serve receive best suited for your team
• Creating a defense best suited for your team
• Training methods

As apprentice you will have the opportunity to practice some of your coaching skills in the sessions of the camp. You are responsible for your own note taking and we will provide you with opportunity to do so. You will also have the chance to informally talk with all the staff members at the camp and use them as your personal resource. As you know, talking to somebody and using their experience and knowledge base is a much better method rather then trying to find or read information in a book or manual.

You will have the opportunity to gain technical knowledge like nowhere else. Most of the coaches, who you will be working with, have international caliber playing experience. This year’s VPC coaches have been coached by Canada’s national team coaches as well as several top-level international coaches. They will offer a tremendous knowledge base and are willing to share some of the secrets and tricks of the trade with you. 
We will only accept 6 coaches in each week as possible candidates. So if you are keen, have a week to work with some highly skilled athletes and are looking to learn from some of Canada’s best, consider being a coaching apprentice for a week at Volleyball Position Camp for the price of $ 350.- plus GST.
