Congratulations to RDC Queen's Volleyball Team for repeat 2015 CAAA Championship - March 17, 2015

Volleyball Position Camp Inc. wishes to congratulate the Red Deer Queen's Volleyball Team on repeating as CCAA National Women's Volleyball Champions. In dramatic fashion, the RDC Team defeated FX Garneau 15:13 in the 5th and final set of the gold medal match Saturday. Winning one National Championship is difficult enough but given who Red Deer graduated from last year's championship team, the odds of returning let alone repeating as National Champions made this accomplishment even sweeter.

Head Coach Talbot Walton commented on this special achievement: "For this to happen it would take a special team and luckily, that's what we had this season."

Recognized for their play throughout the tournament, several Red Deer players were selected to the tournament All-Star Team: Miranda Dawe (2nd Team); Brownwyn Hawkes and Alex Donaghy (1st Team); and Leah Koot (MVP).

This past weekend, they captured their 8th consecutive OCAA Championship. Thalia Hanniman was named as the OCAA Player of the Year as well as the tournament MVP. The Canadian Armed Forces National Women's Team (CISM) is in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil - Aug 5, 2014
The Canadian Armed Forces National Women's Team (CISM) is in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil competing at the 2014 World Military Volleyball Championships. Yesterday, Canada opened up against the host country, Brazil. They were defeated in 3 sets but it should be noted that the majority of the players representing Brazil compete in one of the best women's professional volleyball leagues in the World. Today, CISM faced off against Germany (another team with many players who play pro overseas) and were able to take a set from their opponents. Unfortunately, the match ended in Germany's favour 3:1. All the best to the athletes and coaches who represent our country as they have two remaining matches prior to play-offs.
